★McDonald’s Japan Chicken Sandwich★Chicken Tatsuta & Oyako Teriyaki (EP152)

Today I’m gonna be making McDonald’s only in Japan chicken sandwich.

One is Chicken Tatsuta, and Oyako Teriyaki sandwich.

Japanese twist makes the McDonald’s sandwich so unique.

Unfortunately, these are available only seasonally. if you miss out or if you want to have regularly, you have to make it by yourself.

The Teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise are made in heaven combination.

These sandwiches are very heavy which I like, and of course very satisfying . Both chicken is so flavorful and goes very well with the fluffy buns! Homemade foods always make us comfortable, and happy.

Mcdonald's Japan Chicken Sandwich

Equipment

Ingredients

Chicken Tatsuta

  • 1 chicken thigh
  • head cabbage
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp beaten egg
  • 2 tbsp potato starch
  • 1 tbsp all purpose flour
  • oil for frying

Sauce for Chicken Tatsuta

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

Oyako Teriyaki

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 3 eggs
  • lettuce leaves
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour for dusting
  • 1/2 cup Panko bread crumb

binding batter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp egg white
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

Chicken Tatsuta fried chicken

  • Remove the skin from your chicken thigh.

    Cut into three.


    Score the surface, and prick all over the surface.


    To make the chicken soft and easy to bite,  and make it season well.


    Transfer to a bowl, add grated ginger, sugar,  soy sauce.    Toss to season evenly.


    Cover directory with a plastic wrap, marinate at least 10 minutes.


    After 10 minutes, add beaten egg and mix well.

    Add potato starch and flour.   Mix until even coat.


    Heat your oil up to 160°C,  deep fry the chicken for about 6~7 minutes or until done.

    While deep frying, let’s make a sauce for Chicken Tatsuta.



Sauce for Chicken Tatsuta

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of Japanese mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of ketchup, 1/2 teaspoon of yellow mustard.   Set aside until used.



Assemble

  • Slice the buns into two, and put it in a steamer.


    This is a very unique way to heat up the bun.


    Steaming creates a unique texture,  very soft but dense somehow.

    It’s the signature texture of the chicken Tatsuta.


    Apply 1 tablespoon of sauce we have just made, place shredded cabbage as much as you want, place the chicken, and good to go.




Oyako Teriyaki chicken sandwich

  • Remove the skin from the chicken breast and cut into a chicken patty
    .  It's about 90 to 100 g per piece.


    Cut out the thickness to make it even.

    Score the surface and prick all over the meat
    , to make it easy to bite.

    Dust with flour, and dip into binding batter, then coat with Panko breadcrumb.

     Deep fry until the surface is golden brown and cooked through.



Easy Teriyaki Sauce

  • In a heat-proof bowl,  add 1 tablespoon of sugar and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of Mirin.


    Cook in a microwave for one minute at 800 W.


    Take out and mix until sugar dissolves.  

    Cook 30 more seconds again, the liquid is boiling.

     

    It looks very watery, but when it comes to room temperature, it become a little bit thickened.



sunny side up

  • Heat a small pan on medium,  place a ring mold if you have one.  Grease the inside.


    Crack your egg, and add a tablespoon of water cover with a lid and cook for three minutes or until to your liking



assemble

  • Heat your pan and apply butter directly on the surface.


    Cook your hamburger bun, the cut side down.

    Cook until the surface is crispy and warm up.



    Dip your chicken cutlet with the teriyaki sauce.

    And place on to a hamburger buns.


    Put your sunny side up on top and drizzle the Japanese mayonnaise.

    Place a lettuce leaves and there you have your Oyako teriyaki chicken sandwich.
